Bestbuy has a 50 pack of imation dvd+r for $64.99 and plus a $5 rebate. I was wondering if Imation is reliable for data and ps2 backups. I know that their cds suck, but I never tried their dvds. Thanks.

It might be worth spending that extra bit of money to get some better quality media. Best Buys arent always that. I would only ever buy Ritek media, or if i could afford it, Pioneer's own brand at $5 each lol.

those that have good set ups are fine. thoose "self programers" that have heavy erratic custom programs need to watch every step. thier machines are VERY PICKY about the media they use. if you havent messed up your machine and your set top player does not suck your ok. i guess some people get mad when they find out that someone is getting something they cant use. so they take the best stab that they can. from what i can tell there must be a whole spindle of coasters out there that should be mixed in with my discs. i have yet to date make a coaster and i have bought at least 50fuji/10optima/20tdk/10+rwfuji/50IMATION/10unknown+r/
also you should know one of the quickest ways to ruin movie copies is have background programs running ...norton live update...mircosoft updates...email incomming, and most of all visiting some sites puts alot of spyware in your machine that sends out info randomly . this type of information exchange between your computer and the net can "confuse" your burning and transcoding. thus making a poor copy. even if your net connection is off the mere attempt of theese spyware programs to connect is enough ...but i guess the easiest thing to do is blame the media.

Ok Security, there are a few points there you raised that really dont make sense. The one about the pop ups from porn sites?? The reason discs fail when people are using the computer for other reasons is not that the burning or transcoding is getting confused, it is simply a lack of system resources, ie: RAM and Processing Power.

The part about those that have good setups are fine?? Im not sure i agree with you there. I have an excellent setup and have burnt DVD-R's with only ever getting one coaster. However, some of my Princo and Bulkpaq media dont work on DVD players, or are slow and its not because i had a bad setup. Its because the discs were not particularily good.

At the end of the day, use good media like Riteks and good programs like DVD Shrink or DVD2One with DVD Decrypter.

your familre with adaware ? if not i can send it to you . any spyware programs do that but i like adaware. no im not saying your on porn sites and i will change it to say some sites . lol im stating that they are notorious for placing spyware in your browser. that spy ware attempting to connect uses the much needed resources you just mentioned above. ram, and procceser. so that effects it.i used the terms "confuse the program" so even a basic reader could get a grip . and yes any advanced user knows about ram and such. with the perfections that 321 has made in the software i only see dvd x copy as a perfect backup source
but i have not tried your program suggestion.
i have used the media we speak of ...imation. i have not used princo. have you actualy used the media or is it just not prefered by you. i know alot of people that use imation or verbatim just because they learned to trust that name back in the floppie drive days . none of those people have ever come back and told me thay had a problem with any imation dvd. if you have ,let me know how and what happened. _

what you two are talking about is a little over my head right now (I'm new to this). I was just answer the guy question about my dealing with the media. I to use X Copy too and was have a problem until I switch medias, because sale rep said Imation was better. When I change I started having problems so I would tell any one to buy them.

Adaware rules. Except for the occasional tracking cookie or fifteen you probably won't run into nasty hard to get rid of spyware, unless yer stupid or go to questionable sites...

Sorry...went off a tangent there.

As my great granpappy used ta say, "You get what you pay for..."

I too have seen the fifty pack or so of cheap imations, but I gave it a pass.
