Hi folks. I'm having a peculiar problem. I just recently modded my PS2, and have created some backups. Here's my problem:

The backups I'm creating need a cool down period between use of a couple hours. What I mean is, that once I play one of them for a few minutes, I can not switch back ups, or even reboot. I've made 5 or so successful backups, using Sony DVD-Rs at 8x. I tried other speeds (16x is my max), and 8x seems to have the highest success rate. I copy to ISO first, then use ImgBurn to burn from the ISO. For some bizarre reason, it's always the second burn attempt that works.

Also, I don't believe it's my lazer, because I aquired some old backups from a friend to test with, and they work any time. These are quite old though, and my friend said the difference might be in the backup protection difference between the years.

Anyone have any idea what's going on? FYI, my chip is a DUO 2 GT.

I don't have a mod chip, but maybe you need to update the chips bios so it can play the newer games correctly.

bump.

I have no idea how I'd modify the BIOS. The backups work if the PS2 has been off for 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 hrs, so I doubt it's the BIOS configuration.

it's more likely due to the system overheating as the ps2 has a fail safe of shutting down when it gets too hot (much like a PC would if the cpu got too hot). you can stand the ps2 up vertical as this would expose more surface area to decepate heat, you can also have a fan pointing at the ps2 (whether vertical or horizontal) or you can try to move the location of the mod chip as it too causes some extra heat.

NTSC DNAS threads.

Ohh, sorry, I forgot to mention something. I don't think the PS2 itself is overheating, because when I pop in one of the old backups after I've been running one of the new backups, the old backups work. It's just the new ones that won't work unless the PS2 has been off for hours. That's why I'm confused.
