you need a DVD-R disc. and a PC with a DVD RECORDER not a DVD RE-WRITER. it took me ages to figure out that that was the problem

You what? I'm willing to bet everyone on this forum has a DVD-Rewriter, I know I do, and have no problems.

Try updating your burner's firmware, it may support -R discs then. If not, then you could always try using DVD+R.
Most decent, modern DVD writers will support -R, +R, -RW & +RW, and many now support Dual-Layer discs too.

Ok, since you started the topic already, lemme add a question. How do you burn psx games to DVD-R, since my slim ps2 won't read cd based media? I'm dying to play some chrono cross on it.

Also, if that's possible, I was wondering if you can do a multi iso setup on 1 dvd, and have some sort of loader when it boots up. This is so that space on the dvd won't be wasted on 1 psx game (example, I would like to put all 3 discs of FF 7 on 1 dvd, and have a menu to choose which one to boot).

Hmm, lemme think...
FFVII: Dirge Of cerberus = 3Gb approx
Maximum capacity CD-R = 800Mb
What do you think? Geez!

You can't! PSX/PsOne games are CD based, always have been & always will be. When the PS2 enters PsOne mode, only the CD reader is active.

to user ace...thank you for your input but the need to make me feel like a complete IDIOT was NOT necessary...in a previous message on that same board I said I was new to this whole process, thus DON'T KNOW WHAT I AM DOING. That is why I turned to my peers for assistance.

If anyone can give me a detailed decription of what I need to do this that would be fantastic.

I already gave you advice on what to try in a much earlier post, but clearly you decided to ignore it...

Damn, oh well. Guess I'l have to stick to emulators...

Wow, didn't even notice that the topic starter was talking about dirge of cerberus. Yea, it isn't even possible to fit this thing into a cd. I dunno if downsampling movies, or cutting them out altogether would work, but I think its impossible. Might as well do some research first about disc sizes before asking such questions (now that I think of it, I didn't do much research about psx games on dvds, lol)

I guess I should have looked around some more....

Oh and just to mention, I'm not sure if I already clairified this but I am refering to FFVII(for PS one, with Cloud...and whatnot) not the new one for PS2

Oh for God's sake!! Now you think about mentioning that fact! Why'd you post in the PS2 DVD forum then?

Yes. Burn FFVII (the original game for PsOne) onto CD, but you will need a way to boot it on PS2, such as a PsOne Boot Disc like BreakerPro or a modchip that allows PsOne backup booting. Swap Magic will NOT boot PsOne games.

You ended up doing that yourself with your last post! If not the entire thread!

Sorry...I really am...like I said I am new to all this and apparently AM and idiot! LoL. The only programs I have to burn right now are Nero, MagicISO, and Express Burn. So dumb, but how would you reccommend I do it using those programs or would you reccommend I use a different one?

final fantasy VII is a psone format so you have to burn it to a cd-r
and mostly it three discs but I want to ask a questions what type of files is it that you downloaded?

Okay the burning from CD-R is not a problem I have those and DVD+RW but I know the PS2 won't read the DVD+RW disks. The file I have is one from Bit Torrent apparently it's an ISO file? So I was told by a friend.

Geez! Forget the DVD discs! You've already been told twice that you CANNOT burn a PsOne game to DVD.

Get a CD-R, put it in your burner's drive, open Nero, and open the iso image file with Nero & burn to the CD-R.
