Ok, since my V3 PS2 is getting kinda old, I was thinking of replacing its laser. I don't want to have to use a solder since I've never done that. What and where is the best site to buy a replacement?

I would google but I don't want to go to some shady site. I want to hear from some experienced people with this issue.

To be honest, you'd be better off just buying a 2nd hand (pre-owned) PS2, as a new laser for your model will cost a minimum of 2 thirds of the cost of a 2nd hand one. And that's excluding shipping & fitting costs. Add those, and you'd be looking at almost the same cost as a 2nd hand PS2.

2nd hand PS2. But the PS2 would be used and thus the laser would've been weared out. Isn't it better for a fresh one?

Not necessary.
I agree totally with ace tuk. But make sure if you do decided to get second hand ps2, check them before you go out from the store.
Ask then to play any game first (heavy amv games like RPG games are the best choice) and make sure it went into the game before it hts the browser, or maybe give it like a 2 or 3 second wait at the browser.
If it takes longer than that, don't buy them. Try look t from other store.
Make sure you also asked about the return policy. I suggest get it at gamexcrazy near your place. I bought 1 used ps2 and haven't dealt any problem since.

Its ok, no probs.
If you get the 2nd hand PS2 from a reputable games store, like GameStop, or EBGames, then it will be refurbished, so the laser will play almost as good as new.
