Question regarding the two 360 drives(Hitachi and Samsung)

It seems the Hitachi is the easier of the drives to flash, is that accurate? Well i was wondering are both drives still equally put into currently produced 360's or did the Samsung totally replace the Hitachi in newer 360's that are being made now?

I want to buy a 360 but was also wondering if there was a way to tell whether a 360 has a Samsung or Hitachi drive from just the box, production date code perhaps?

samsung is alot easier u just plug in and mod with hitachi u have to go into mode b or you have to buy conectivitiy kit.

I have not done a Sammy but the LG is not hard after you figure it out the first time. The Sammy has not replaced the LG there is a new version of both out, MS is just trying to mix it up try and slow down modders a little so they can get back on thier feet. There is no way to tell what drive you have without turning on the 360 then you still have to open it to find out what version it is. Production date can let you know roughly but no something you can go off of when trying to buy one.

But it's a lot harder to flash, especially if you have to get a compatible SATA card.
