Hello there, I am new to the forums and fairly new to the ps2 mod scene.
I have lurked, without getting an account, for about 2 months to try to get my self sure on certain upgrading points.
I have come across some issues that cannot be fully covered with the use of search and I thank you in advance for any advice you may be able to offer me. Note: some questions may span over to software, do forgive me if this is the case.
I have just bought a chipped ps2, it should arrive by about Wednesday, I have been collection certain items to get ready to load my games and backup games to a harddrive with ease.
I will be using the good ol' network adapter and an IDE Maxtor 200GB, I belive the ps2's chip is a DMS2 or a DMS3 (Two is not very common, no?)
Is there any preperation with the harddrive and do I just need to slap it into the back?
Is there any heat problems when used with a mod chip?
I have collected many ps1 games to use as boot discs (One is bound to go wrong, eh?) with the HDloader application.
When I load HD loader onto my memory card, will I use my trigger PS1 disc to always swap and boot a backup, change games, install a game and so on, or is it only needed the time you install onto your card?
That has been confusing me because of conflicting search results, wouldn't always usng your PS1 boot disc cause at least some laser wear?
Do I put in my trigger disc and memory card, load up HD loader, take out trigger, put in game or backup game, install to drive, take out backup then run? Or after taking up backup do I need to put my trigger back in?
Is there anything I should know about this or my modchip?
Thanks very, very much in advance. I would love it even if you would answer just one of my questions and I hope to find my self at home in this community.
