I have been using DVD Shrink without problems until the last couple of movies. I am getting an error message "DVD shrink encountered an error and cannot continue Failed to read file "D\" Data error (cyclic redundancy check). Can anyone explain what this means and if there is anything that I can do to burn the DVD? Thanks

DVD Shrink (while still an awesome program) just can't cope with some of the newer movies' encryptions.

it definitely sounds like this is a case of Shrink being unable to do whichever movie it is; just use (free) DVDFab Decrypter, that'll rip thru anything out there, and is updated often - http://www.dvdidle.com/free.htm

..then just use DVD Shrink as normal. that's how i do all my movies

Cyclitical Redundancy Check: This means there's a bad sector/s on a disc that you are trying to rip.The laser can't get through this bad sector,so it's keeps trying-therefore cycling. If it can't get through that spot,it'll stop and kick out that crc error.

1) Encryption related:

Here's a list of some of the titles that DVD Shrink has trouble with:

http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=48842

That crc error or an Invallid navigation error will pop up if it's encryption related.

2)If not encryption related, then usually those crc errors are from:
Dirty
Scratched
Damaged
Bad factory press.-aka bum disc. Lots of bad discs do get out of the manufacturing facility for the original dvds.

Always keep your discs clean. A big fat fingerprint will definitely get that crc error, LOL

3)Re-Ripping backup discs:
If trying to re-rip one of your own backups or someone else's backups-Too many errors on that first backup copy may give you crc errors when trying to make extra copies.
