Well i just called them and gave them my serial number etc. I hung up on the first chick cause she was a tard...here's an example:
MS - ok sir can i have your serial #
me - blah blah blah
MS - ok sir i will repeat it back to you
me - ok yep you got it right.
MS - your not in the system, can i have your serial number?
me - ummm ok i just gave it to you, but here it is again...
MS - ok sir i will repeat it back to you..
me - (sigh) yes you got it correct again.
MS - ok i'm just going to confirm it once more, it is 2...0...9
me - jesus, then click, me hanging up...
Anyways, i just called right back and got a normal person thank god. SO they said that i do fall under the extended warrantee and gave me an adress to ship it to. I live in Ontario Canada and they are having me ship it to a place 10 min away from my work (lucky me). So i'm going to drop it off myself tomorrow and according to them they will just give me a refurbished system etc. I then proceeded to ask about a warrantee for the new system and they said its 30 days.
I think that is a bunch of crap. Only 30 days, by the time you factor in shipping etc, your screwed. My only way around that is to purchase an extended warrantee from them to my ass is covered. Which i will do for sure...hopefully it doesnt cost to much.
On that note i will see what happens from there. Here are my learnings, i was always a nintendo/playstation guy, then when the 360 came out i decided to make the jump over. I really wish i didnt do this and just waited for the PS3 or something else. I just find it really painful to throw out almost 600 bucks for something that wont last for a year. then you have to give them more money for a warrantee etc. ITs total BS. I mean its funny that a NES from 1986 still works perfectly and has been left on for countless hours over 20 years. And a 600 $ system wont even last a year. I wouldnt be so bothered if it was just a one off occassion cause nothings perfect, but when you read a million posts about xbox360 problems, you have to wonder.....
ok gotta run, i'll keep you all posted.
