I'm getting the 'file is larger than 2GB' 'please use UDF file system to write such large files' error but I am trying to back-up a game that uses dummy files, so I have to rebuild and compile in Nero Burning ROM.
Is there a different program to use to rebuild a game that can accept large files?
Does a game have to be written in the UDF/ISO file system to work on PS2?
Apache, or Sony CDVDGenerator 2.0. And yes, it does need to be UDF/ISO.
However, I would be interested to know what game it is you're trying to rebuild, as I've yet to come across a game that has a single file of over 2Gb in size.
I've seen a couple myself - Tomb Raider Legend being one, but this one I'm trying to rebuild is Yakuza.
So, is it easy to rebuild and write PS2 games in those programs? Is there an option for UDF/ISO or any special settings that must be used for PS2 games?
Why are you trying to rebuild Yakuza? It's only 4.08Gb & doesn't need rebuilt. Neither did Tomb Raider Legend - probably explains why I didnt remember any games with 2Gb files, cos they work fine without rebuild.
You only need to rebuild a game if it's close/equal to or over the 4.35Gb TOC limit of Swap Magic.
I find rebuilding games a safer way to write them as they usually work first time. I wrote Yakuza straight off with ImageBurn as I couldn't rebuild and it sticks on a black screen after selecting 'New Game'. This tells me that the dummy files are stopping it loading.
After rebuilding, the files add up to 4.06gb. The ISO is 4.08gb. So I think I need to remove the 0.02gb to get it to load.
20Mb of disc space would NOT stop a game from loading, and neither would any dummy files, unless a game is over 4.35Gb in size. And neither of those games have dummy files anyway.
Sounds more like your using a bad/dodgy media, every game I burn to RITEK G05 works 1st time.
Verbatim is dodgy media? I've wrote the swines on Tevion discs in the past and they worked. If it was sh*t media I doubt they would load a game's frontend, options and all intros and THEN freeze when I pressed start...
