Hello there,
I recently purchased an HP 300e external DVD Burner and would like to back up some of my DVD movies. What software would you (experienced ones) recommend downloading or buying in order to make it do the job?... I want to keep the same quality in the copies as the original movies.

Appreciate it!

Peace!

DVD2One 1.2
Nero 5.5.10.42

or

DVD Shrink 2.3
Nero 5.5.10.42

[are you hooked by firewire to external burner,I have had reports back that it aides transfer a lot]?

No, I am not hooked through firewire, just regular USB. I would like to make my laptop to be capable of using USB 2.0. Do you know what to buy to make it work?...

Regarding the software, which one is the easiest for you?... Is the quality as good as the original when copying it?

Thanks a lot!

:-)

I use Herb's first option. Takes a little longer but seems to have less noticable compression noise.

All the bruning info you need to start is here: http://www.dvdrhelp.com/forum/userguides/141024.php#dvd9dvd2one

I am trying too copy a movie from a DVD+R to another DVD+R. DVD Decrypter does not allow me to do anything - I get error messages! (I think The DVD+R I want to copy from has been decrypted already because it is a copy of a movie). Is there any other tool that would allow me to burn from a DVD+R to a DVD+R ?.....

Appreciate it guys!

***I tried disk to disk and the program said I don't have enough memory. I tried DVD Decrpter but it did not work for this DVD+R.

***I don't know what program was used for the first burn. I am trying with Nero, and Nero copies the image without any problem, but when I insert the blank DVD+R it says I don't have enough capacity in the disk to burn. Both DVD+ R's are 4.7GB, 120 miutes.

What can I do?.....

Thanks!

If DVD Decrypter isnt ripping it then you havent got much chance of finding anything to rip it. DVD Decrypter rips just about any disc out there. Is your disc scraped?

DVD Decrypter says there is a reading error. Something looked like an scratch, so I purchased one of those DVD scratch repair kits and is still giving me the reading error. When I use Nero, it makes the image copy without any problem (only problem is that the DVD+R I want to copy to does not have enough capacity - That is what Nero says).

The DVD+R I want to copy from plays good in my computer. I don't understand the possible scratch problem with DVD Decrypter but not with Nero and the fact that it plays well in my PC.

Thanks

Yeah, but as security said, are you trying to back up a movie that is on a DVD X Copy made disc, because i too have heard that only DVD X Copy software will allow you to rip it. Am i wrong here?

I am using a laptop with its own (internal) DVD Rom. I also have an external HD 80GB and an external DVD Burner. I tried both drives when it comes to reading the DVD+R from which I am trying to copy.
Again, I am trying to copy from one DVD+R to a blank DVD+R.
I don't think I need to decrypt it nor to use DVD Shink (I tried them both but I get an error that says "read failed"). Someone suggested copying the movie to my HD using Smart Ripper and then burn it using Nero.

What do you all think?....

I want to keep the same quality.

Thanks a lot!!
