I began getting this message recently. I read where others have had the problem with certain drives. My problem turned out to be the built in drives for memory cards and sticks. I finally figured out which usb root hub contolled the 4 drives and then disabled it (in Device Manager). It had gotten to the point that I couldn't run Yahoo's Spyware program or System Mechanic without getting that wretched message. I was also getting it on start-up. I also use extra hard drives with enclosures hooked up with USB. They didn't seem to be the problem.

Are these optical drives you're talking? You might want to check the system root, or your BIOS if anything. Another suggestion is look what's on your IRQ's, it might be a conflict of sorts.

**Edit** I just read that you said they are phyiscal USBs. Lol. Yeah, USBs only should be in the device manager, which can be disabled. It still could be a problem in IRQs, but I highly doubt it, since they are not considered perephiral devices. Report back here if you still have them problems; I'll look into it with a professor at school.
