The 162d's work perfect. ALOT easier than using your 360 drive. Only takes about 10 minutes to make a backup using this drive and Schtrom's or XBC. I'd recommend this drive to everyone. I didn't get mine from this site, though.

newb question, but is this drive like a replacement for your xbox 360 drive OR for the PC drive..?

PC drive. With the 360 if you make your own backups, the ss, dmi, & pfi needs to be ripped off of the original game disc. Only the 360 drives and this pc drive can read this.

so this drive plugs into my pc as normal; drive and i can backup games without havein to worry about extractin ss files as it does it all for u.? just put in game run program schtrom or xbc and it spits out disc when done and u put in blank ????

Yes. It's just a regular pc drive. And it still works as a regular pc drive, too. With the kreon firmware is will also have the option of reading/extraction a 360/xbox1 original disc.

The schtrom or xbc are all-in-one programs which will extract the iso, ss, pfi, & dmi from the original and then rebuild a ready-to-burn backup. You will be left with your .000 and .dvd files. Then just burn with ccd. There are no steps in between. That's it.

Gotta say that the sh-d162c and sh-d163a are just normal drives, not burners. You'll still need a dl burner.

So, this drive is just for copying/burning the games on your PC, not to install on your 360 and play them, correct??

This hooks up to your pc so you don't have to hook your 360 up ever time you want to backup a game. Looks like a wise investment. SO one of these suckers and that pionner dvd burner and your owning.

One ? tho if you have a samy and a hittiachi will the backups work in both or do you need diffrent burners and readers each?
