i'm using BitTorrent to download Fifa 07.
it is 4% completed so far. here is some information
Average Download speed: 4kb
Max ever download speeD: 11kb
Average upload speed: 12kb
max upload speed: 25kb
I am aware dat if i increase upload bandwith my downloads will increase in speed. i have selected 'automatic bandwith selection.
i have no anti-virus installed or firewall which i am aware off. My router has firewall built in it.
Could this be the problem? i have 10mb broadband connection.
please help its really annoying, some people are saying they are getting speeds upto 250kb!!!
It states the connection speed as :FAST
Total tracker peers: 50 (11 seeds) i dont know wot this means but its the best torrent i could get.
Thanks alot for reading!

4 kb...roflmao! Too funny (I'm laughing with you, not at you). That's gonna take forever. You are def. better off going with newsgroups with the connection you have. Torrents are running slow because there's not alot of seeders compared to leechers. Then half the time leechers set their upload speed next to nothing, so their not giving back what they take.
You isp may have free news servers. Is yours here: http://www.usenettools.net/ISP.htm ? If you're only downloading what you own then you don't necessarily have to get a pay-news server.
Either go with newsgroups, get a samsung sh-d162c or sh-d163a, or go with private torrent sites.

Not that I don't believe you Alyt, but can you post up a screen shot of you pulling down an 8GB 360 game in 40 minutes?

I've seen parts of 360 games posted on rapidshare. It's too much of a hassle to try and download them one at a time with download tickets.. (free server)
I'm also pretty sure that a hosting company that allows pirated xbox360 games for download that you have to pay them to get ideal speeds is far, far from legal though.

@memnock
its true i use rapid share too.. the only problem is you only get a 3gig limit per day. so you can download a game ever 2 days (the gigs roll over). if you dont mind the limit its good.

Newsgroups is deffo the way to go, I've got a 5MB line and I download at a steady 475kbps. You have to pay but it pays for itself within hours of downloading. Its unlimited so I bought a cheap small form factor pc (shuttle) and leave it running 24/7 to get my moneys worth.

I don't care what you pay for newsgroups. You'll always get your money's worth. EVEN if you paid 50 bucks a month. I'm sure you'd pull about 25 360 games off of there.

Thanks for the info Xan21. Newsgroups still seem like the way to go, at least for for me anyway.

@ *agent47* Seems like everyones kinda leaving you hangin'... have you checked out here:
http://www.portforward.com/
And it's not that something MUST be wrong. It all just depends on where you're getting your download from, seeder/leecher ratio, and their upload speed. Alot of times most people aren't connectable, either.

I hardly think that just cos you lot use newsgroups or other pay as you go srvices will help resolve agent47's problem.
Agent47: next time you post such a question please omitt what your are downloading. It's not important. We need to know:
the exact bit torrent software and version you are using,
size of file you are downloading,
tracker(s) you are connected to,
your connection speed with your isp,
your router (make and model),
settings of you torrent software.
This is just to start with, I know you gave some of these details but it would help to be a bit more clearer.
Although only a few months ago I would have said it doesn't really matter which bit torrent software you use, it does seem to now. I used to use utorrent and suddenly I started getting really slow DL's so I switched to Azureus and played with a few settings. Now things are back to reasonable speeds.
Limiting you upload speeds is not a crime. In cases where upload speeds exceed my download speeds and cause my donloads to go even slower, I cap the uploads so I can at least get a reasonable Dl speed. Usualy equal to upload speeds.
The number of seeds can help your download speeds but having a lot of peers can just be as good providing you can download from them. It's not all about how many seeds there are, you can still successfuly download a torrent even without an active seed. The important part is that everyone has at least enough of the file to create a full copy (hence the distributed copies section in most BT software).
More info from you = more help from us.
