Hey all,
This is a good problem to get your teeth into. im trying to connect a new computer to an existing network. Drivers are all installed and as up-to-date as possable. baisicaly what happens is when i connect the cable no link lights come on and the connection (in network connections) states "a network cable is unplugged". yet, when i plug it directly into another computer the network card accepts the conection and will do all the things that you would expect.

so.. it cant be the adapter, it cant be the hub (because all the other computers connect just fine) it isnt the cable(as it works with other connections) and its not the drives or the the other computers. I have tried to change the duplex modes on the problem computer and the others with no joy and ive tryed two other network cards as well as the onboard one.

Im sure there is a relitivly simple solution and im missing it but any help would be much appriciated.

Cheers,
D.R.D.
