ok i had a quick look and i could not find the same error on the forum so here it is:

my ps2 console does read the back up games as long as they are under 3GB. basically it gets extremely slow if has to get close to the edge of the dvd to read the data. it is perfectly fine with originals even on the edges does not reduse the spin at all. i am using sony dvd-r(dmr47s3) with sony DRU and have tried as slow as 4 speed buring on some other drive(pioneer i think).
