Flash Type: (SST(SST39SF020)
ERR: fail to open input file!
what does this mean, and how can i fix it??

it is because your either selecting the wrong drive before you flash or you are using a bad/wrong .bin file.

I wish I could help you but I've never done a Samsung drive yet. The Hitachi drive is easy as pie. I feel for you Samsung owners.. at least on the flashing part..
What version drive do you have?
Also, what firmware are you trying to put on?

I've heard that the 4.1 firmware does the key stuff automatically. From what I've read, all you have to do is make your backup files, then flash.

ok you have m25 firmware, try this. turn on your computer and load it to the bootdisk prompt with mtkflash(keep console powered off). when at the prompt type mtkflash r /m orig.bin but do not press enter, at this point you will turn your 360 on then press enter. It should work, i have a feeling it is not working because with the m25 and m28 samsung drives have this thing where the firmware locks up after like 10 secs of receiving power(or some bullshit on those lines) thus resulting in when trying to read it says failed. and as for your bin file, when you get the orig.bin just copy the file to the extreme folder and the double click "makex41a.bin"(assuming you have extreme 4.1a)and it will do the key editing for you(very easy), then just follow same steps to flash the extreme firmware back to the drive.

ill try that when i get back to the room. but when you say load it to the boot disk promt mtkflash, does that mean that i first type in mtkflash in the command line...and hit enter...then type in mtkflash r/m orig.bin turn on 360 hit enter...or type in mtkflash r/m orig.bin turn on 360 press enter?

alright, well that method didnt work, still get the error. so after doing that, i tried hooking up one of the IDE drives, (dvd drive) and had mtkflash r/m orig.bin typed in the command line, turned on 360 hit enter, was prompted with the following:
Drive Scanned:
1: IDE Pri Slave
2: VIA6421 Pri Master
so i choose drive 2, then it just haulted with this line showing
Port:cc00, Master/Slave:a0
but i guess im making progress...i got to choose a drive at least, lol....this is really getting on my nerves though...
ok...update time...after going disabling raid in the bios for about the one millionth time...i am no prompted with these two choices....
1 ide pri salve
2 via 8237 pri master
how did the 6241 get changed to 8237?

Make sure you have the setting in your BIOS that allows stuff to boot from the PCI card. I can't think of exactly what it's name is since every BIOS is different. Also, I'd unplug all IDE drives and disable the IDE Primary/Secondary in the BIOS. Try that and see what it does.
