Hey this is my first post on here but have been copying/downloading/reconstructing/coverting etc. DVDs for a long time. I have fairly recently (3-4 months ago) started getting into ps2 modding because its free and fairly easy.
Anyways to get to the point i bought a Duo3 modchip for my V14 PS2 got it installed professionally at a laptop repair centre (slipped the guy a £5) got home and it plays copys, DVD's, downloads and original games fine....until...
I noticed sum enscored rings on the underside of the discs..ps2 origianls, backups, original and backup dvds and im baffled, i didnt know if you guys have seen this before..Its not like the burn marks after buring a DVD on ur comp these are thin and really "deep".
I was wondering if you knew what they are and if they migtve contributed to my Battlefield 2:Modern combat stopping working after playing online and offline with it since i got it chipped..now it just stops booting..Black screen then loads again with the zooming into squares and repeats 2 times before displaying the memory card and CD icon which when clicks repeats the 1st process.
Well anyway any answers would be VERY greatly appreciated as the chips done me proud so far and i dont think i can play copies online as i could with the original..which i wanted to be playing right now.
well thanks in advance as i know you guys are extremely good as i have had a fair amount of problems all which would usually be resolved on here hence my 1st post.
Its most likely caused by the disc being too close to the lens housing if the height of the disc tray has slipped.
You can fix it by adjusting the large white cog at the rear of the laser bay to re-adjust the disc tray height.
Yes but this shouldnt do you really any harm if they are like what ace1uk said is causing them i wont hurt the disc too much I had and still have a cd walkman which i got way back in 1997 dont know if it even works anymore but it should its sony now to the point well it started doing this in about 2001 onto every music disc i put in there it comes out with a ring ussally around the middle of the discs diametre but the discs that this is on still work, but if this is caused by this it will elp adjusting the lenses height but make sure you dont stuff it completely turning it to the wrong place can cause it to read no discs or only dvd's or just cd's so be carefull
Thanks If it doesnt do any harm i will leave it for now, Then if it does have a go at the cog. I was just wondering Do you know why my Battlefield 2:Modern combat has stopped working then while everything is playing fine (this is my favourite game online). Its an original copy and one day was playing online fine next thing it wont boot.
If you cam't explain this do you know how i could play a downloaded version on ps2 online?
Oh yeah the battlefield disc wouldnt read in my PC using dvd decryptor, so are you sure its not the cog (i hope its not i dont wana risk breaking my ps2 again)
All you have to do is patch the dnas code back onto the backup just search it in search there is a million how to patch dnas guides and for BF2:MC just leave it for now or download it via torrent and patch it but if it happends to one more game you might want to do the cog thing by the way has the game got any scraches besides the circles which you think are dep enough to stuff a game?
Thanks for the Dnas advice but i cant back up my original coz it wont read in PC yet i got all the codes of it before it messed up and im gunna copy my mates version (here now) and patch my info onto it.
For the disc there areno other scratches besides the laser ones, Reckon you could walk me through the "cog process"
