Hello all, yes i am new, please forgive me. Well i got the independence exploit goin on my ps2 memory card, which boots like an elf loader, which i use to load cogswaploader. When i get that up, i put in a ps2 dvd rom, the ps2 dvdrom picture comes up and i click "x" once and it says use cogswap, so i swap with a card tool. I insert a copy of Dragon Quest VIII or Black for ps2 and hit "X". The screen goes black and nothing happens. I have a fat ps2. Im using ok quality media, DVD-R HP. Whats up? Even if the media isnt that great, i have burnt like 5 copies, all no go. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

I forgot to mention that the game i am using for the high TOC is MK: Deadly Alliance with a toc size of 4.36. Dragon Quest VIII is 3.89.

Is this a method of playing backups without a modchip or swap magic or anything?
I know you need like Gameshark or Action Replay or something....but say if you had a copy (unpressed) of one of those, used it on a modified PS2, and set up the exploit on the memory card there.
Then used the memory card on an unmodded PS2...could you then theoretically load backup games on it?

Yes, this is a method of playing backups on an unmodded PS2. Supposed to be an alternative to swap magic though. You use the action replay to get the exploit on to your mem card.

Sweet. I just got this working today.....your post alerted me to it.....now I have it working 100%
The steps you're trying seem to be fine....Does it work for any other backup?
My original PS2 game is GTA3....which is just bigger than Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance.....but as MK:DA is larger that Dragon Quest it should, theoretically still work.
Maybe get GTA3????
