I know this is a little off topic, but you'll see how it kind of relates. I am running out of space on my regular computer HDs (C has 100GB and D has 400GB - before filling up). I bought a 1TB external HD to give myself a bit more storage. I followed the instructions, installed the software first, then plugged in the unit. At first it looked like it was all done properly, but I tried to copy a movie from my C drive (I had used DVDFab to get it to the C Drive) to the external drive in Windows explorer. It starts acting like it normally does when I transfer stuff from my C to D drive, but then stops and says something like "Delayed write error. Information has been lost, there may be an error with your software or network configuration" After that, while my Windows Explorer continued to recognize the drive as being there, the "My Book Manager" program that came with the HD no longer acknowleged the drives existence. I had been using the USB cable that came with the drive (drive is also firewire compatible, but my HD does not appear to have that). I tried all my available USB ports, and none made any difference in trying to correct. I returned the drive to the store, but I'm still thinking I'd like one if I can get it to work. Another thing I thought about this morning is that I had had Yahoo Messenger installed on my computer, and when I rebooted my computer, it came up with a message that it had encountered an error and was switching all my plug-ins to safe mode (I'm not sure if it meant that program's plug-ins or all plugged in devices like the drive). Any thoughts? Could my USB ports have all gone bad?
