I recently made a post that was probably not very clear and may have sounded...well, stupid. "Cannot find server" issues after installing AVG and unistalling NAV2005. When I tried to remove the NIS 2005 program (expired) and downloaded AVG anti-virus 7.5 free, I was unable to connect to the internet, hence "cannot find server". After much frustration, I gave up closed down, disconnected the modem, and the next day, I ws able to connect. Well, I was assigned somehow, an automatice IP address (192.168.0.4, Host unknown)that does not match with my DSL provider(quest/msn.com)IP address, and now I can connect. I ran a scan with AVG right after installing and a bunch of viruses showed up that NIS never cought, but I don't know what they mean or if these "viruses" were restricting access to the internet. Can AVG conflict with certian files that would restrict access? Another issue I have been having since I did this is I cannot access window firewall. It just give's me "windows cannot display window firewall", I cannot access from anywhere. Also, appearantly NIS is not completely gone because everytime I start up my computer, it gives me notices to that it cannot find NAVProd. SO, can I post my virus vault log here and get some input? Can this restrict my windows firwall access? Im affraid I've been hijacked. I am running windows xp home, Zone Alarmfirewall, Spybots S&D (after unistalling NIS 05) Now that I can connect again, my system is running super slow. I do not want to do a system restore yet but, I can't figure it out I will just do so and start all over. I don't want NIS 05 anymore but I never seemed to have issues with my computer. Im new so If im not giving enough info or sound dumb about computer issues, forgive me and put me on the right track. Thanks!!
