OK,

Why can I not get the program to rip the full disc of either of these using the latest version of DVDFab Decrypter? I tried the full disc option on American Haunting...it wouldn't finish analyzing it past 59%. But it got the main movie fine.

Then, when I tried Monster House, it seemed to rip the Full Disc fine, except near the end it failed.

Now I'm trying the Main Movie only on Monster House.

Now, how do I get the special features to rip to my HD for these movies? I'm lost, and seeing as there's no tutorial up yet for the latest version, it's uncool.

What's going on with these movies/DVD Fab Decrypter

You can either rip the entire disc or just the main feature (the movie itself).

The entire disc would contain the special features.

I don't know why you're not able to rip An American Haunting with this program. I have it and the movie and I used it to rip the movie. I did the entire disc.

I then blanked all the extra crap I don't want with Vob Blanker. Then used Shrink and Img Burn like normal and voila.

What version of DVDFab do you have? If you do have the latest one, try another program like ripit4me.

Latest AnyDVD to rip > VOBB to blank the unwanted on a DVD > Shrink to compress > ImgBurn to burn = Never starting a thread asking how to backup a movie

Use the newest version of Ripit4me then use shrink to burn as usual. Worked fine first time for me.

It looks like DVDFAB Decrypter 3.0.3.0 may have a few bugs because it wouldn't rip "MONSTER HOUSE (US, Region 1)" for some odd reason. I've tested it twice and it stopped and failed at the same spot. However, I've reversed back to version 3.0.2.8Beta and it ripped flawlessly. Yes... and that's including "FULL DISC" or "Main Movie," both Mode worked beautifully.

I believe 2.9.8.3 is still very useful if you can find it. Give 3.0.2.8Beta a shot, if it's working for me, then it should be fine with you or anyone else.

Good luck, happy ripping and burning.

I just finished Hard Luck using v. 3.0.3.0 and not a glitch. Burned with Recode. This is a Sony movie so I would think it contains their arsenal of tricks and yet Fab didn't even blink. I think I'll try one of the problem discs and see what's up. Can't be too much out there any worse than the Sony trash.

Thanks for the tip for the Beta version. I will try it.

I used RipIt4Me and it screwed up the full disc on Monster House. I'm still trying to find out how...and how to properly use it, I spent two hours last night fiddling about with it and DVDFab 3.0.whatever it is.

Did Monster House a short while ago using DVDFab Decrypter 3.0.3.0 and Nero Recode Burn at Once. NOT A PROBLEM! Played on my Home Theater DVD player (and on Nero Showtime just to be sure). I don't have AnyDVD so I don't know if when you use DVDFab it warns you that you have to turn off AnyDVD running in the background. I must be lucky as my system doesn't run into any of the problems showing up for FabDecrypter. Ripit4Me on the other hand is a hit and miss with me....I'll get one burn okay and the next one fails. Only have it set up now for a just in case backup.

I got the BETA version but it's trial only for Platinum for 30 days? Did I get the wrong version? Someone clue me in.

It works, btw. Monster House and American Haunting are coming along fine. But I don't need the Platinum version....

I had the same problem with American Haunting. It gave me 'process failed' when trying to burn the entire movie. It did, however, burn the main movie but when trying to open in shrink it gave me an error. Last time I tried using Vob Blanker it hung up at 99% on every movie I ran through it so I stopped using blanker, perhaps blanking it after going through dvdfab will fix the problem.

Thanks for the link man. I d/led it and will try it out after my trial of Fab Platinum runs out. I'm loving the "main movie" option they included with it, since anymore I usually just go for the commentaries, not the extra features and no menus. Or if there's a special feature I want, I just stick it onto the end of the disc in Re-author mode.

Just watched "An American Haunting." Save you $.30 disc, the movie is neither haunting nor scary. Basically sucks. Sutherland and Spacek stoop to new low.

@Mely4fun
Over the Hedge has nothing special unlike the others in your list. Shrink can handle that one by it's lonesome.

Might want to try RipIt4Me - all free programs.
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/360110

Or try the 3.0.3.3 beta - link in ashroy01's post. See if that one does the trick for you. Has a few fixes.

That or go back to the version of DVDFab that worked for you until Fengtao works out most the kinks.
The link for 3.0.2.8b above no longer works - if you want to try that one I can upload somewhere.

editted to add: @garmoon - didn't think it was that bad - not a better one for those 2 by far - thought the end was the best :)

I still use DVD Decrypter and anything that it doesn't work on, I use RipIt4Me along with DVD Decrypter. After it's decrypted, I use DVD Shrink and then Nero. I can't think of a single disc that I haven't been able to back up in the past year using just DVD Decrypter or RipIt4Me.
