no one has any idea as to how to do that yet. u should wait until after its released before you start worrying about backing up your games.

To be honest,no-one has a clue yet,but if you look at history, you'll soon see that a modchip been released within the first six months is most probable method to backup games...

yeah, i think that if the ps3 is going to be hacked, it'll be softmodded, like the psp. however, if it is sofmodded, everyone is going to need a huge hardrive to support the games. r:fom is 22gb alone so ur gunna fill up the hdd awfuly fast

I saw that some of Sony's new BlueRay disc had been hacked. I'm not sure if this inculdes the PS3 games or not. But it was also said that it would cost to much to backup games right now becouse blueray disc are $20 and writers are $700 and up. But in about a year prices would be right. Also do you think it is true that there are chips in the new blueray disc.

Ya, in regards to backups, it doesn't seem like it will be as useful as other consoles in the past. A 25GB game is a disaster to transfer and store etc. I'll be more curious to see if I can transfer all my old ps2 iso onto the ps3 and put my hdadvance in and go. Veeeeeeery wishful thinking me thinks, but a guy can dream. Are the harddrives fully built in to the ps3 or are they swappable allowing for a larger harddrive? ie: 200-500GB? Anybody know?

yeah you can; however, you have to open up the ps3 to do so. sony recommends that you buy a usb hdd instead. I heard this in gamespot's latest movie thing on the ps3 and the wii

i think its gonna be quite a while before people start burning ps3 blueray discs. I'm pretty sure most will load the games from the ps3's hd or usb hd. And how well will a modchip do though? who's gonna send their $5-600 ps3 to have it chipped? so i think softmods will be the way to go.

Yes, that is the way I took it when I read it. The part I want to know will you have to have a mod chip to make it all work or just software on a HD that boots the game that you have saved on HD. But we won't know untill the PS3 is out and we start trying things. I give them about March, April before somthing is out there to back up the games, and at $60.00 a game i'm backing up everyone I buy.

nah i dont think ill worry about backups yet. It took me a little while to get used to the PSP, and learning again from scratch for backing up ps3s doesn't appeal to me yet! maybe later.
Thanks to DvDBack23 for my sig!
