OK I usually use Verbatim DVD-R which work about 90% of the time. But all I have left are Maxell DVD+RW discs.

I know PS2s read normal discs better than RW DVDs but, is it possible to backup a game with these and get it to work well?

It might be possible with the newer versions of the PS2 but don't bother doing it as it'll fail 99.99% of the time and can give your PS2's laser a hard time.
