I have recently made the leap from PC to Mac and am generally loving it!
One of the issues that I'm finding is that I can't find any DVD burning software that can match the speed and capabilities of Nero 7 Premium.
I have a collection of 6 or 7 AVI files each 350mb that I want to burn onto DVD using toast or any other program out there.
In Nero, I add the files and a message comes up saying that there is too much on the disk and asks whether I want to reduce the quality so that the it fits on the one disk. I ask it to reduce the quality and the burning process will the take 2-3 hours.
In Toast, if I add the 6 AVI files and try to burn it, it simply says that it's too big to fit on a single disk and that's it. I then remove 2 AVI files and burn the DVD and it takes 3-4 hours.
I'm under the impression that Macs are a much better computer and have 1000 times better hardware and software, but I'm getting stuck on this area.
Any help or ideas? I'd prefer a one process solution if there is one, as opposed to creating a disk image in Toast and then reducing the size of it on DVD2One or Popcorn, which can take up to 6 hours.
I have a Power Mac G-4 that I have had since 2001 (upgrading to the Panther 10.3 OS in 2003). I also have had a HP Pavillion laptop with Windows XP since late 2003. BUT....Whenever I take photos, I automatically go to my HP laptop to download them because my MAC doesn't have a good way to download photos that is anywhere near as easy to work with as my "good old Nero" is. iPhoto (on my Mac) WILL take the photos but it is so hard to do anything once you get them in iPhoto....especially when you have 85 photos that you just shot at a family party (or on a trip to a place you love to visit). If it weren't for Nero on my PC, so many special memories would "just be floating around lost" on my MAC. I love how the minute I plug my camera into my HP laptop, a cute little box pops up and asks if I want to download the photos it detects. ALL of my wonderful memories over the last several years are achived by Nero...on my HP laptop while an expensive "supposedly graphically superior" Mac sits a few feet away. When I just have a couple of photos taken of products to upload onto my website, I CAN use iPhoto to get them on my Mac. And I DO use my Mac for editing artwork... using a program I love called ColorIt...which just got into modern times by coming up with one for the MaC OS (ColorIt 4.5). (I have Adobe Creative Suite installed on my MAC since 2004...and use Illustrator and Photoshop CS once in a while, but due to their complicated layering systems, not much). So.....Where would I be if I didn't have a MAC.... AND a PC? Probably in the same boat most people my age are....totally unable to do anything with photos. But I DO spend so much of my precious time trying to smuggle things between the two foreign countries...the Republic of PC... and the Nation Of Mac. Wish we could put an end to this cold war and unite MAC and PCs.
