Back when I actually used to use the forums a lot, one of the most things we used to talk about was music. :-) Anyway I got a recommendation for a band to check out; Royseven. I've been listening to their album for a few months now (u might have noticed my sig lol) and saw them live properly once and twice acoustic.

Some say they get a sort of "Muse" sound from their music, some say coldplay but I think the album is too varied to compare it to anything. From start to finish the album, The Art of Insincerity, is very entertaining :-) They just released it in Ireland on October 20th and will be heading to UK at the start of next year.

I just saw them at a record store in my town on friday, they played 5 acoustic versions of their songs, sounded excellent :-) I added a blog entry the day the album was released with a lot of links to their videos/music online -> http://my.afterdawn.com/dela/blog_entry.cfm/1330

I'd recommend that you listen to the original version of You Can't Hide That (YouTube video - just a slideshow with audio) and then check out the acoustic version which was performed on Oct 27th. I think it sounds good both ways :-) Also Revenge In Blue is great track. The album is currently sat at 17th in Irish charts, not bad for a debut Indie release (through record label IRL, band also has a deal with Universal for areas outside Ireland).

Some afterdawn members already got the album from me weeks ago, so I hope you liked it too :-)

In terms of what singles were released and what's publicly available, you can be right in saying they sound like other bands, but after hearing the full album along with a nice bit of their yet unreleased stuff, they got a nice original sound of their own too, but I don't know why you are appologising for not liking the music - I'm just recommen ding, not forcing :-)

NOw that's what I'm talking about, huge Zeppelin/Sabbath/Maiden fan here. Dream Theatre also but mostly becuase I'm a drummer and Mike Portnoy is a god. :-)

@Ripper, I captured and uploaded a new Royseven live vid from TV last week, you might like it, it's happy ever afters since that is current released single. - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pVIGbV4Dsa8 - Royseven will; be releasing their stuff in the UK in a few months, so that should be interesting.

Looking as we speak :-)

There are few drummers on the planet that really amaze me these days but Portnoy always was one, I have GBs of him drumming in the studio and some of those instruction vids he was in, f*king genius :-)

Well someone who hadn't heard dream theatre before asked me to recommend an album and I told them to go look for "train of thought" - dunno why I just always thought of it as a good introductory album even tho its nowhere near the first lol.

Yay for Rush. I've been listening to them for ages, since this thread, just didn't see the name pop up. Fly by Night is one of thir best songs IMO along with, Temples of Syrinx.

I have a live album, but never seen them live (before my time ;-P)
