Here's hoping this is the right place for these 2 questions and no doubt some1 will tell me if it isnt...

1) What does mounting an image mean???

2) I have an MDS and and MDF file that I was told to mount using Alcohol 120% with no additional instruction:{ I am relatively familiar with burning CDS and DVDS but have no clue when it comes to the "mounting" process.

Alcohol 120% is a program used to make "virtual drives" on your PC. It is a way to trick your PC into thinking you have extra DVD-ROM drives.

Basically, "mounting" an image into a drive is a way to trick your PC into thinking that you are putting a DVD into your DVD-ROM....

You create a virtual drive by opening Alcohol 120%, and selecting virtual drives, or emulation drives, or something to that affect. Then you pick the # of drives you want to virtually create, and hit ok.

Once this is done, you can click on My Computer, and then right click on the drive you just created. Then select "Mount Image," and browse to where your mdf/mds file is located. click it and you are done.

Your "Disc" should auto run. If not, just double click your virtual drive.

Finally a concise and clear response! Many thanks for the info!

One additional question on the subject however....

Can I mount the image from an image file in my DVD drive or does it have to run from my hard drive???
