Hey there crazyman1
File 'IoSubsys\NEROCD95.VXD':
Looks like you have an old version of Nero's InCD still on the pc - Check add/remove programs for it. Unisntall it and run the InCD Clean Tool
Unspecified target error If InCd is still there might be causing this error.
Check this too - In SmartStart go to ToolKit>InfoTool>ASPI tab - see if anything shows as corrupted in there.

Trying burning this video_ts folder w/ a free program ImgBurn. You would use the build mode since you would be burning the video_ts folder Shrink saved to your hard. Here's a guide too:
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/383878

Give that a go and see how that goes.

edit to add: may want to try a registry cleaner (if not using one)like ccleaner Supports your os - Windows 98 - but I have never used on that OS.
Do a disc cleanup and disc defrag too.

Sorry there crazyman1
SmartStart is Nero's like command center. You access all the different apps thru it. Usually a desktop icon.

Yes look in add or remove programs for InCD. If you see it - uninstall it. It's Nero's packet writing software that can cause problems.

i went into add or remove programs and DID NOT see incd in there.
i ran InCD Clean Tool and it found some stuff that must of been left behind when ever incd was UNinstalled.
now im off to see if i can find SmartStart.
Be back in a few. lol

Mine :) See above. Trying to rule out any conflicts. I'd hate to say it's the drive then you stick a new one in there and same thing happens.

You're good on the aspi too.

i'm going to run ccleaner then i'm going to do a disc cleanup and disc defrag. then i will start this movie over from scratc and see what happens.
if it still does the same thing do you think it could be my burner going south?

Maybe - but let's clean things up a bit. Run a antivirus and spyware scan too.
Since I'm not that familiar w/ 98 another suggestion is to look up some of these conflicting drivers in the Nero log and see if they may be leftovers from an uninstall of some software.
File 'IoSubSys\SCSI1HLP.VXD':
File 'IoSubsys\CDFS.VXD':
File 'IoSubsys\ESDI_506.PDR':
File 'IoSubsys\AFL.VXD':

I could be way off base on these but I'll try & do a google and see what I can find on them. Won't be til tomm though. In the meantime you can try and find them and see if something rings a bell - software wise.
But 1st do the other steps and try the burn again - fails - post the logs and we'll see what's left.

i will do the other things first. if you find out anything about the files please let me know.
i even thought about puting another hd in and doing a fresh install of the operating system and just the software i need and see what happens then.
thanks for all your help on this.

That's not a idea bad at all. Even if it does turn out to be the drive it still may be a good idea. One way to get a clean o/s and hard drive :) (which might be best anyhow - depending on what shape this pc is in) Cheaper than a new pc. You use this one just for burning if I remember right?

I'll see what I can find and let you know.

yes this is the stand alone pc just for burning and it works great. I just need to upgrade the memory a little as you can see.
If i start over i dont have the serial number for Nero so what would i do to reinstall it? i up dated it from that link you gave me when i first posted on here.

Hey crazyman1
The serial # will also be in SmartStart - Product center (see pic below)
In the right hand corner of SmartStart click on the icon w/ a flame in then the serial # tab.
Yeah more memory would be good. One weird thing about the Nero log is it's report 56% in use - wrong it's actually 90% in use.

I checked out those drivers and yep I was off base - except the Nero one they are all devices, network driver etc for 98.

How did you make out burning again after doing the maintenance bit?

If failed - try ImgBurn. If that fails then may be time for a new drive.

The drivers in the log all look okay - w 98's drivers.
Do the maintenance bit and try again. Keep as much free memory available as possible.
If it is the drive going adding ram w/ help overall but won't help the burn failure.
Try ImgBurn to burn also - lessen the possibilities.

Damn another fail - oh well at least the pc got a cleaning and some maintenance :)
Nothing changed in the log.

I think you should try ImgBurn too - last step - then get a new burner and cable. You can take video_ts folder from Shrink and use the build mode.
Keep us posted!
