Disc Read Error?

I have had a modded 360 for about 2 months now, all backups worked just fine. Recently my backups and quit working. They give me a disc read error message everytime I put them in. I have to try and boot the game about 8 times before it finally lets me play it. Anyone know what might be the problem. On another forum I was told it might be a laser. I have a samsung ms28, can someone point me in the right direction to buy that laser I need if that is the problem. Thanks.

Were they burned to Verbatim discs? If not, that's more than likely your problem.

Burnt using Verbatim at 2.4x but the problem is they worked for like a month just perfect and now they aren't wanting to work except for like 1 out of every 8 tries. The other 7 attempts I get a disc read error, but they were working perfectly.

Not I don't have the latest firmware, but the thing that gets me is they all use to work just fine for like a month flawless and now I'm lucky if I get them to work 1 out of 10 tries, what would cause the sudden change.
