I'm having a problem with my ps2, it used to not play all the ps2 games i bought, all were purchased in the USA along with the ps2. It wouldn't always play when I tried to play Tenchu Wrath of Heaven, and I just bought Final Fantasy 12, and it won't work at all, I've tried turning it on it's side and trying to clean out the inside with a vacuum and compressed air, but i can't get it to work.

The system itself has no problem booting up, I get cannot read disc errors when attempting to play games sometimes though.

Fat PS2 or Slim line?

Clean lens with Q-Tip and Rubbing Alcohol.

DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT, clean with to much Alcohol. I made this mistake when trying this technique and it dripped when cleaning the lense and it ruined my PS2. If you use this cleaning method(it's risky), BE SURE to use only a little bit of alcohol.

Also, I have a new PS2, and I need a tip for getting it to work too. (I swear, I think PS2's are made to break.) I'm having and identical problem to 420Shadow. It says "cannot read disc" when I try to play FFXII. Did you find a solution?

FF 12 seems to be a problem for a lot of people. I usually can burn games first time every time but this has taken a couple of goes. My chipped ps2 seems to play this game better standing on end, weird.

All I can suggest is to try different burn speeds and various makes of disc.
