Alright well let me introduce my self since I'm new. I'm Zerosaber and I'm 17 years old and I live in Canada.
I'm not quite sure if this is the right place to post this subject. But if it is I'll would kindly as if an admin can move it to the appropate place.
Well here I go. I recently got Metal Gear Solid 3 Subsistence. I found out that there was a limited edition version of the game that came with a movie. I downloaded the third disc but I have no clue how to burn it. All the files are .dat files and I want to know how to burn it so I can watch it on a DVD player. I appreciate all the help you guys can give me.
If you have WinRAR (if not do a search and download it) right click one of the files and when asked what program to open with click WinRAR. The program will tell you kinda of file the downloaded program is in. When you have done so please let us know.
1) I downloaded the third disc off a torrent. The entire download was basicly seperated in 89 rar files and along with the download came a file called "mgsseed.sfv" .
2) After the downloaded I double clicked on of the RAR files and the file inside that rar was another rar file labeled "SLUS_213.60 ISO"
3) I opened up that rar file I found the following:
System.cnf
SLUS_213.60
DUMMY.DAT
Modules(Folder)-------->SMAP.IRX
PLD.IRX
MODULE.IPK
IOPRP300.IMG
DNAS300.IMG
DEV09.IRX
MGS (Folder)----------->VOX_3.DAT
STAGE_3.DAT
SLOT_3.DAT
MOVIE_3.DAT
DEMO_3.DAT
CODEC_3.DAT
BGM_3.DAT
Licence (Folder) ------>LIBEENET.TXT
I right clikc the DAT files and I can play it on Windows media player but it has no sound.
DO NOT extract from the iso file. That's the disc image file that you use with DVDecrypter to burn the game to disc. Its NOT a rar file!
It only shows up as a rar because you've got the iso file extension associated with WinRAR, which will cause you extraction problems.
Open WinRAR, and in Options > File Associations, make sure the iso box is unchecked.
Then browse to the folder that the 89 compressed, spanned rar archives are in, and highlight the 1st numbered one (probably .001, or .rar), then click 'Extract To' & OK.
The iso will extract. Once it has, burn it to a good quality DVD with DVDecrypter, Nero or Alcohol.
It won't play in a DVD player, it plays on your PS2, as it's still a PS2 format disc/game, & you'll need to have a modchip, or use Swap Magic discs to boot it.
