Hi, This is my first post in the 360 section so bear with me. I bought a pre modded 360 and buy the games so i have never had any problems before or any reason to look to this section. I bought the gear for XBOX Live today and hooked up and downloaded the update and got the E66 error that i've read about on here. I know that the box needs re-flashing, i've been quoted £45.My first question is how easy is it to do and should i even bother trying as a complete beginner, or should i bite the bullet and pay £45? Secondly i've been advised that once i recieve the 360 back that i shouldn't consider trying to play xbox live as more than likely it will happen again. Is the £100 i've spent for wireless adapter and 12 month membership a complete waste of money?

You need the backup file you get when you flash the drive its usualy stored on the PC that was to do the flash to be able to return it to its original state.

I found flashing the hitachi model quite easy with the x360 usb from team executer. Heres the guide I used http://www.sws.vxcomputers.com/x360usb/

Because firmwares are constanly being upgraded and stuff needs to be chanced as you go along paying some one to flash ur drive each time a new firmware is needed will cost a lot of money and hastle. My advise is read the guides and do it ur self

Samsung and Hitachi are totally different for flashing.

He can reflash it and it will be fine for playing backups. The prob you'll run into is having to keep paying for reflashing. He can reflash it with 3.3 and it'll work. But soon a new release will be out to replace 4.2 so then there's another reflash. And you will want to keep up with the firmware if you're using Live.

Ok, thanks. When i spoke to the guy who was doing mine he seemed to think that he would not be able to flash it to a firmware that could play back ups again. From the replies i have had i believe that he should quite easily beable to flash it to enable current back ups? Also if i stay off xbox live does this mean i will be able to go on playing future back ups without having to upgrade? Cos at the end of the day if playing xbox live is gonna cause this much hassle then i will not bother using it and just stick to playing mates round my house.
