I have downloaded several AVI files in the past, can convert them to mpeg format and they play on my dvd player fine...however i want them to play on my ps2 or any other standalone player and it wont work! Ive tryed converting to dvd format, putting the video ts folder and burn it and it always seems to come up wiht a menu to play the files on my dvd player and does not auto run like ones i get from my friends...ive tryed changing the converting process to NTSC not auto alos and still no luck...what am i doing wrong? kinda frustrating but i like all the help, maybe someone can lead me in the right direction

When you burn a Video-DVD, you MUST select a Video-DVD compilation type. Nero and some other programs give this option. Simply burning a DVD e.g. as a DVD-ROM, even if you have the VIDEO_TS folder and whatnot, will not work reliably because files have to be in specific places on the disc, and only a burning program that actually understands how to burn a Video-DVD can do that.

-Do you believe you own your computer and shouldn't be told what you can run and do? Then say *NO* to Microsoft Vista!
-Since half the questions here involve media problems, here ya go: Only use Verbatim or Taiyo-Yuden discs (get your TYs from Rima.com, not Supermediastore or meritline). Forget the rest, no matter what "brand" they sell under. Always burn at 4x speed regardless of the speed rating of this discs or your drive. If you have burn problems with these then you have to update your drive's firmware. For double-layer discs, only use Verbatim DVD+R DL and burn them at 2.4x speed.

As Dunker has said you can not just burn a VIDEO_TS folder to disc. You need to start a DVD-Video compliant project in a program like Nero.

Below are steps to take to make a compliant DVD-Video disc.

Start Nero Burning Rom and follow the images below. (when adding the files to the compilation go to the VIDEO_TS folder that WinAVI has created and placed the files in)

No. Click the VIDEO_TS folder (or all the IFO, BUP, and VOB files e.g. hit CTRL-A so they are all highlighted) and just drag them into the red VIDEO_TS folder on the left.
