I just finished up modding my v9 PS2 with a Duo3. However, I run into a few problems when I tested if everything was okay.

The fan does not start spinning when I press the power or eject button, but the lights on those buttons are on. If I press the green power button again, the fan will start spinning and the Duo3 light would turn on. After this, if I press eject, after 3-4 seconds, the DVD tray will come out, but will not retract. There is no response from the TV except for a few times where it just flashes/blinks, then its back to the blue screen.

As for the modding, I am confident about all my soldering points except for the 4 on the back, B, H, G, I I believe. I also did a v9/v10 Romeo mod on the LA chip, which I feel was very succussful. However, I did have a bit of trouble soldering on the VIAS points, both for the Romeo mod and the 4 points on the back of the circuit board. I did spend a bunch of time on picture 3 of the diagram, since I had to desolder some points, as the solder went across a couple legs. Would that chip being fried cause the problems I am having?

Lastly, i did have a lot of trouble on Y, of picture 1, since everything is so close. I am pretty sure that I successfully soldered that, but in case a couple were touching, could that cause my problems?

If its not too much of a bother, I was wondering what the 4 points on the back governed (G, B, H and I), as they are the ones I had the most trouble on and feel the least confident about.

Also, if anyone could offer some advice/tips on how to solder well on the VIAS holes, that would be really great. I have a terrible time trying to solder on them, since they seem not to attach to the solder. Even after a while of scraping them, they still seem to be extremely resistant to holding solder.

Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

I'll be taking apart my PS2 again tomorrow to make sure it works without all the mod stuff before trying to figure out if there are any weaknesses in my solder.

Thanks again for anyone that took their time to read all of this!

Just to give some more information, in case anyone can figure this problem out...

I basically tried to resolder everything, but this time, everything was still just as messed up as before, except that the DUO3 modchip LED light did not turn on.

So I decided to check if the PS2 itself is fried/broken but removing all the wires and tape, and trying to clean up the solder. However, I did leave in the LA chip laser fix. When I put the PS2 back together, nothing happened again, and it acts just like before.

It powers up, and when I hit the greet reset button, the green and blue lights turn on, but the fan does not spin. When I press the reset button again, the fan begins to spin. If I press the eject button, the lights will flash for 3-4 seconds and the tray will come out. If I press eject once more, there will be 3-4 seconds before the tray goes back in. Then, the DVD drive seems to make some noise and then the PS2 goes back into standby mode (red light) automatically.

I have not been able to get any other difference result from randomly pushing buttons. I will try once more to take it apart and remove the LAchip fix, and resolder that back on to original place, and double check there are not random solder around.

Please help me with any knowledge or guesses you may have!

Thank you
