Ok guys, Halloween passed and Final Fantasy XII is out there.
For all you guys who use HDD to boot your game, here's a help.
If you install the game just like that, it will show only blank screen.
Here's how to fix it.
Get the patch from this site.
http://www.ps2nfo.com/forums/downloads.php?do=file&id=3475
You might have to join the site first, it's free so just do it.
Then you need the patch joiner. Get ppf-o-matic from this site
http://halo2.filefront.com/file/PPFOMatic;24225
Then just join the patch you d/wed from the first site and the FF-XII image file and click ok.
Use WinHiip and enable mode-3 then install it to your PS2-HDD
Run the game and enjoy :D
any question don't hesitate to ask!!

Hey, thanks for this - quick question tho...
if i patch this using your links, then burn the new, patched ISO to a good quality blank (taiyo-yuden), then install that disc's contents to my HDLoader & enable mode 3, will that do the trick? im not familiar with WinHiip, just wanna know if this'll work.
Thanks in advance, as well.

Yes you can. As long as mode 3 enabled, FFXII will run with your HD Loader.
You should try winhiip. Installing games to your HDD never been so damn fast. I installed FFXII takes about maybe 10 mins.

Edutz is the man. My patched FF XII is working smooth as butter on my HDloader, thanks again man!
neosabaho - this patch, as i believe, solves that FMV freezing issue, but yeah it has to be in mode 3.
samadam - Im not sure you follow.
What i did was i took the FF XII disc, put it in my PC and ripped the ISO with DVD Decrypter. I then used the program he linked to, it was real easy: it just asks you to find the ISO on your drive in one box, then the patch he linked to in the other, and hit "patch", it was really quick.
I then used DVD Decrypter to burn this new, patched ISO to a high quality disc, and installed FF XII to my HD Loader directly from that disc, and with mode 3 enabled, the game plays great.
its not really that complicated, but i hope that helps man.

Ok guys, Sorry haven't gone to internet for quite a while.
Samadam, to answer all your question here it is
Yes the link for the patch is gone already. I tried to find it via google, still can't find the link
If you kindly enough to tell me your e-mail address, i can send it to you though.
Then to apply the patch, Yes you have to do it via your PC. It is advised that you get a HDD enclosure to do this.
To apply the patch is very simple procedure. Just download and install the PPF-o-matic, and it's very straight forward there.
1 field to browse the patch and another field to browse the ISO of the FFXII
Then use winhiip to install the patched FFXII game back to your ps2 HDD (still connected with your PC) with mode 3 enabled.

Yo ACE
use comma and period please. I have trouble understanding you :D
anyways, default mode on winhiip is no mode enabled whatsoever.
It is true that if you straight burn the game without mode enabled, FMV will be laggy (chopped). That's why I said enable mode 3 so the FMV can be fixed.
Any yes winhiip can install games even you run USB Extreme
But remember. USB port at ps2 slim are still version 1.0. The data transfer IS slow. So eventhough you turn mode 3 on and the fmv is still laggy, it still no problem at all.

for the people use usb exteme, I found that using a ide to usb adaptor, with a 3.5" 7200 rpm harddrive, the stutter became a slight pause every now and then.
Not better then using the internal hd, but way better then using a laptop harddrive, or the harddrives that are in most of those "external HD" prebuilt things (they are using 4800rpm drives, while laptops are 5400rpms).

Just wanted to let everyone know the new location of the patch.
I found out when I put in ps2nfo.com on its own (cause I was going to search their site) that it redirected to ps3news.com ... so I just replaced ps2nfo.com in his link with ps3news.com and it worked. So correct link is below.
http://www.ps3news.com/forums/downloads.php?do=file&id=3475
Hope it helps. I downloaded patch, but have not tried it yet. GL.

Hi, firstly adun281. It sounds like you have the file but it is in a compressed state. You need a program called WinRAR, just google it and you should find it easily. With WinRAR you can extract the .rar file into the .ppf.
Secondly i've noticed that a few of you have said that if you transfer the game using winhiip and mode 3 then you can use the game on the hd with "no fmv stuttering". Could anyone confirm if this is true?
I have it on the hd but just patched it and burnt the iso. Anyway to get rid of the stuttering and still use the hd would be great.

I tried using Winhiip on mode 3 and the game works but there is still fmv stutter.
I am using hdloader 0.8b. Is there any way to stop the stuttering?

i am using HD loader 8b, and i have successfully patched my Final Fantasy XII iso, loaded it to my Playstation HD with HD loader, and the opening movies' audio skips.
i see in threads to use modes 1+3.
is there a way to do that with HD loader, without taking my drive out, and putting it in my computer, and using Winhiip? really, Winhiip is more work for me than just waiting for hd loader to work on the playstation.

thanks, TheNick. Select button was it. It already had modes 1 and 3 on, so, I'm assuming from the other threads that i've read that only the opening and intro movies have problems.
i just didn't want to start a game without knowing i could play through with no problems...
