the pc was working fine until like 3 months ago
first that pc started restarting itself whenever it felt like it
than after i tried system restore probably about 20 times but it didnt fix anything. after some time when i turned on the pc it was at the lowest color quality 4bit and i couldnt chNGE it back to normal but the problem with colors wasnt always happening sometimes pc worked right for days and other days the colors were messed up. now I cant even do the system restore because all kinds of errors come up like something is missing from windows. so i cant even get to windows and cant install a new one because of the errors that are popping out all the time

also about 3 month befor all that started happening I installed gforce 6600 and upgraded from 512 mb ram to 1024 again the pc worked just fine for about 3 month with the new stuff

can you guys tell me what is happening to my pc and may be what can i do
thanks

Even if you're getting errors within windows you can still reinstall using an XP disc. You may try to use some sort of bootable disc with an antivirus program and scan the drive for viruses. I've also seen errors like this come from a failing hard drive, so you may want to find, download and run the drive diagnostic program from your drive manufacturer i.e. for maxtor hard drive use maxblast. Other than that if you can't find the problem, a reformat and reinstall might be your best option. This isn't to say that nothing else COULD fix it, but there are so many potential problems that it would be hard to pinpoint, especially over the internet. Good luck.

Every night has its day.
Even forever must come to an end....
I think.

Antonio..your asking alot for yourself to do..if you dont know already..no disrespect intended..if you want to wipe your drive as I do when reformatting, you can run killdisc, free version will run a pass of 0's over your HD. http://www.killdisk.com/downloadfree.htm there is a free ISO you can burn to cd with Nero.or any image burning capable prog, there is also a floppy boot image. and yes..you need to configure bios to boot from CD drive. then you need to configure boot sequence to boot from CD drive with cd in tray..and you have to beable to navigate through Killdisc, it is a dos based prog with a bios interface that is easy to use, if your familliar with system bios you should have no problem with it..

thats an NT loader prog for windows NT,2000.XP..you can disable floppy and use CD rom devise instead and boot from disc..or go here and search for fix http://www.computerhope.com/jargon/n/ntldr.htm you can also try to run system file check from CMD
Most likely..your trying to boot from a non bootable sector..IE bios is not set right

Sorry to hear that Antonio..what a disapointment..but it does seem like you have a bad HD..if you accomplished the kill disc task and ran the prog with no problems..that tells me your IDE & ATAPI along with your onboard chipset is working fine..aparantly..writing to your HD is OK...retreiving is the problem.. good luck !!
