Does anyone know why some backup games play well on a ps2 and will not play at all on another. I have bought expensive DVD-R and +r to solve the problems. It still changes based on the ps2. Is anyone having this problem. we have bought new ps2's and used them some backup games will play on them, we used our old ps2, it still has the same effects. Does anyone have any answers.
Could be any number of issues. The discs you're using, - or + makes a difference, fireware of you're burner, the programs you are using (if they are updated, etc..........................
kinda the same is happening to me... some games work 100% perfect (resident evil outbreak file 2) whereas others either crash (GUN) the music or voices cannot be heard (Bully) or the cutscenes are extremely laggy (Resident Evil 4) could it be because of the DVD's im using (Philips DVD+R) or is it the way i burned them (DVD Decryptor)(I used the .iso file) Or my PS2??
reagardless of what file you use, it doesnt matter. The lens can be the problem. If you used to use shit disks then your laser is dead, sure it may read at first and then after a while it will die out and wont read alot and will get disk read errors and whatnot. just because they are expensive dont mean they are good. You better had used Verbatim or taiyo Yudens. Those are the best to come by.
Once agian, +r's sucks monkey wang.
as for you firmware of your drive make sure it is corret and up to date.
Form the link in my sig.
92. Q. What is firmware and why should I care?
A. Firmware as defined by AD:
Sort of a "operating system of the hardware", an embedded instruction set built-in or flashed into a hardware equipment, such as a router, CDR drive, DVD-ROM drive, washing machine, etc.
Newer Firmware can unlock new features that are sealed on certain DVD Burners like booktyping, or simply enhance your existing Burner by improving burn quality and media compatibility. Keeping your Firmware up to date is essential to ensure quality burns and maximum functionality from your DVD Burner. When flashing your burner with new Firmware, be very careful. Make sure you shut down all programs running in the background, the DVD-ROM drive is empty, and you follow all the directions included in the Firmware download exactly. A bad flash can fry your DVD Burner. Proceed with caution. You can find all the Firmware you'll ever need here: http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_all.php
Yes, DVD+R or -r make lots of difference (at least with my both ps2 and pstwo).
Few months ago, i recorded some games on DVD+R (Maxell), and in 15 got two games working, but they worked very slow when loading screens.
I just coppied the data from these DVD+R to a DVD-R and all was running good, even the ones that didn´t work at all.
About dvd brands, I used hundreds of TDK DVD-R with no faillure, and I´m using now Traxdata DVD-R and can´t complain, as i hadn´t a faillure yet.
