I have been using DVD Decrypter with DVD Shrink for a long time now. I'm trying to use it on a different system. My problem is that it appears that DVD Decrypter is not finalizing/closing the disc. It is burning the movie to it but when I put the backed up dvd into my computer, DVD Decrypter tells me that there is an incomplete session, that the disc is not empty also. Do I need to change a setting or update any firmware? Never had this problem on the system I have been using. I will give you any other info you need. Thanks in advance to all.

Another note. I do recall seeing something about FAT32 partition with the decrypter. The system I have been using is ntfs so I have never dealt with the 4gb limitation. Perhaps this is my problem. How do all of you with the same software and the FAT32 partition get around this? Split the VOB into 1gb files? If so, how? Thanks once again to all in advance.

DVD Decrypter hasn't been updated in almost a year. that might have something to do with the issues you are having. Try ripping the DVD with DVDFab Decrypter (also free) or AnyDVD (not free) then use DVD Shrink to encode and burn. (you need Nero installed for DVD Shrink to burn though).

about Fat32, most people probably don't have this issue simply because most people probably don't have Fat32 partitions anymore. Store bought computers have come with the NTFS system since windows 2000 came out, and those of us who build computers and install the OS from scratch, the default setting for win2000 and winXP is NTFS. But all of this is really a mute point, because the multiple VOB files on DVDs are usually just over 1GB so even if you rip a DVD to a fat32 HD the 4GB limit shouldn't be an issue...

For the best quality mp3s use EAC (exact audio copy) to rip your audio CDs and LAME to encode them. Follow this guide:

Thanks so much for your input. I did use DVD43 also. And it said that it was fine. I'm simply lost. I know what you mean about the ntfs partition. I have totally dumped my computer and always choose ntfs. The computer I'm talking about is a from a retailer. I have never run into this before and am totally lost. Being that I used DVD43 do you think I would still be having that problem? Perhaps something else? This is just a pain in the rump but I want to get this problem solved. Thanks again.

if I recall DVD43 is only for removing copy protection, its not a ripper. Try ripping with DVDFab Decrypter, it seems to work pretty well. and like I said above, if you have Nero installed just use DVD Shrink to burn the DVD after it compresses it. Thats what I've always used and have had no problems.
