I use kazaa and I like it but I have a query about the speed.I am on 512 cable modem and when i'm downloading from people my speed is only between 0.25kb and 2.68kb.My question is,does this sound right. And can I make it go faster.Have optimal box ticked for when its idle.

Ihave the same speed connection but on Broadband. To get faster downloads you first need to look at how many users are listed for a file when you get your search results, so that if you find two versions of the same thing but one of the files is posted by more users, go for that one. Then when it starts downloading right click on the file and select find more download sources. You need to do this every time the connection slows, as when a user disconnects Kazaa doesn't search for someone to replace him/her. I usually get up to 60kbs for one file using this method but if i go to bed and some of the uploaders log off i can find that i'm only getting a trickle of a download when i get up because Kazaa doesn't automatically search for more uploaders.

the supernode thing means that your pc is used as a way station for kazaa/grokster searches.
You may note that in the search screen some of the items available have a small "+" beside them, this means that multiple copies are available for you. When you select such an item, you can get multiple partial downloads of this specific file (ie, little bits from each users identical file is sent to you and compiled at your end), if any of these multiple users log off, then kazaa/grokster doesn't look for other people who have the same file, you have to do this manually, hence the "find other sources" option (right click on the file in question for a menu to appear with this option). Hope this clarifies things.

Also check out whether your isp has your dl levels capped, there's some sites who check the actual levels of connection speed you have, i can't think of any off the top of my head, but it'd be a good idea to check it out. Your dl speed sounds very very slow.

One question though, are you trying to dl loads of files at once?

Thanks people. It makes no real difference if I'm gettin 1 or more files, have tried doing both. And still getting slow d/loads.Get them a bit quicker now, I'm goin for the"+" beside files. But when I go away and leave it,then come back its way slowed down.

Hi Dunga
kazaalite comes with "speedup" when run,it will look for faster users to down load from!
find what you would like to DL.
run speedup.and if the user goes offline if find a new one automaticity for you
so it set and forget it.but you need something to do while it downloading.come here and read/post

well i have also noticed everything mentioned above , but i have one other undocumented trick. when you are dling a file and its drops you down to one person then doesnt look for more, leave it dling then go to search and search the file again, it will add the + again and try dling from anyone else whos open, also i have noticed that the more you "work on kazaa"i.e switch between "search" and "traffic" and the more you click different parts of the screen the better you dl speeds are, anyone else notice these things?...or do i just have to much time on my hands....
