Ok, my parents just bought a brand new 5.1 sony surround sound system and dvd recorder/player, vhs player. So I get the old one we had. I have a tv with just the one port for tv in/out (not sure) and I want to hook it up to the dvd/vhs player that the 5 speaker and 1 subwoofer is connected to (properly, the sound works great on regular t.v., it has surround sound.) but I want to be able to play my PS2 in surround sound. What do I need to do this. I went to buy a PS2 Component A/V cable and it didn't do anything. I also have an R/F Modulator. WHAT I AM LOOKING TO DO IS BE ABLE TO SWITCH BETWEEN PLAYING MY PS2 IN SURROUND AND WATCHING TV IN SURROUND SOUND.

Thank you.

Buy a multi-scart connector (usually have 3 sockets) if has a remote control is better. But if you don´t connect all devices correctly, you can´t listen tv without unplug the scart of ps2.

simple, go buy a switcher for the type of cables you use.
Either component or composite (standard)

like that. It will have 3-4 inputs and one output that goes to the TV. you hook the PS2 to one button and anything else you want to the others. Then just press the button for the unit you are using and all audio/video for that unit will run into the TV.
Or you can run it into the receiver for the surround sound as well which is how i have mine.
Just make sure if you use the standard PS2 cable that you buy the composite type like in the above link.
If you use component cables for all your stuff you need a component switcher. My component switcher was like $100 and is digital with a remote so i can switch from PS2 or Xbox without even leaving my seat.

Ok...I'll have to check it out. All I know is that I can can surround sound when I am watching Dish Network on the T.V. and I have surround when I'm listening to FM/AM Tuner. So I am just trying to figure out how to get surround sound through my PS2 when I'm watching DVD's or playing games. I thank you guys for the replies! This reply is just to sum up exactly what I'm trying to do.

Thanks everyone!
