So, here's the story - a friend's 360 was overheating all the time, like the 2nd gen ones usually do ... so he took it apart, and did a ghetto mod - just put some fans on the 2 main heatsinks and it worked like a charm ... no more problems.

Another friend who is a builder decided to be nice and make a case for him, for the xbox, to accomodate the new fans. Well, he bricked it. Being a construction worker, not a computer tech, he did something to it while powered up, he decided to straighten some capacitors or transistors, and now it does nothing when you power it up.

Is there any way to tell if the drive is still usable? Does anyone know of some sort of 360 repair shop for not under warranty 360's? Does anyone want to BUY a bricked 360 with a fully custom wood/plastic/metal case? Its truly an original, ghetto/backwoods style ... !!

Actually, this is what it is doing - the lights don't come on when it powers up, and if the CD ROM is connected, it gives the error: E65 ... I guess they also can't get the controllers to connect as well - it does boot fine when the cdrom is NOT connected, but the lights on the front don't come on, and the controllers won't connect.

Anyone have any ideas for how to fix this bricked mess??

yes undo what he has done and check nothing has snapped what have you got to lose it fuck let me know if you sort it

Ya, we checked that all out - can't physically see anything that was snapped - does anyone know what the e65 error is?

Ya, same here - i'm a computer tech, the guy who runs the business & owns the xBox runs the company I work at, well, we both run it, and if he said he's checked it, its been checked! I'll make sure though - you never know!

is there one red light on? IF so then it is a Drive Error.... DVD Timeout, Wrong firmware, dvd is without f/w chip, etc. make sure the drive ribon is connected tightly at both the drive end and the motherboard end.
