I'd go with cyberhome - cheap and play anything you throw it at....

Have not come across any issues with my ch402 - old version now I think....
-r/-rw/+r/+rw/vcd/svcd/jpg/Mp3.......

...............PIO is no go, DMA all the way...............

Since the least expensive DVD players are usually the same ones that use DVD ROM drives, most, if not all, of the cheap ones you find will be compatible with not only +/-R, but also SVCD and MP3 at the least. I personally own an APEX (too lazy to go look up the model # right now). I recommend checking out http://www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdplayers for more details. This link will take you to their forums where you can get a lot more information on various people's experiences with specific players. http://www.dvdrhelp.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=8&sid=f35065d36a5670d83f5654be5c25df7a

Any new DVD player out that is cheap will probably do fine. Im using a Samsung DVDS224 with no problems to date with -R on Riteks. Princo's can make it a good bit slower. I've just bought a £47 Plu2 DVD player with Progressive scan in an auction on Ebay. Normally these sell for £119.99. I bought it cuz it has a brand new loader in it which means it will play anything (plus it has a really cool blue display).

Dela, have a look at the following:

http://www.blankdiscshop.co.uk/acatalog/Hardware_Section__.html

Scroll down, you'll find a nice standalone divx etc.....Don't know how good it is - but seems like a reasonable price....

Yeah, i've used TV out and its pretty dire. The new Elta DVD player plays Xvid too which is pretty cool.

You ever used Plu2 DVD Players. They are very very good. It will play virtually any disc you throw at it. I've just got one.

The Kiss standalone player only plays divx 4 and 5 i believe and whatsmore, it says its Progressive scan, but not for PAL just NTSC, wich make that feature pretty usless here :>(

oh and ORIPHUS your £47 Plu2 DVD player with Progressive scan machine , does it have component out ?
