I am assuming that with the unlock code, I would be able to open up some menus inside my new phone to find out if the phone is receiving any GSM 850 MHz signals at my rural location. Currently the phone is not receiving any signals via my 850 MHz repeater and directional antenna, and I need more information to try and debug the problem. Cingular tech support states that they ARE broadcasting the GSM signals on both 850 MHz and 1900 MHz bands on all of their towers. This phone is supposed to be technically capable of using both bands. This is a location on a mountain about 25 miles from the nearest cellular tower, where one can't receive any cellular signals without a directional antenna up on a mast, and my equipment only handles the 850 MHz band. My old TDMA phone works fine on 850 MHz via the repeater and antenna so I have verified that part of the system is working fine and I know we are receiving signals here. We are left with the new phone as the remaining unsolved dilemma.
