hey all,
ive been trying to play import games on my ps2 for a while and i think im almost there. i can boot the disc fine using magic keys and the swap magic discs the only problem i have is the game appears in the black and white! i looked the problem up on the net and it suggested an rgb or s-video cable.
so i bought an rgb cable off ebay, doesnt work. it changes the screen to widescreen, so its working but the game still appears in black and white. the s-video cable i bought doesnt even work lol. so im stuck. can anyone out there help me? like does anyone use a cable which works that they can suggest i buy? please im so nearly there! thx
tom

Ho-hum, another thread on playing other region games on a PS2.
From the sounds of things you're in a PAL territory trying to play an NTSC game.
3 Solutions;
1. Use Swap Magic's Video Mode function to correct the problem - doesnt always work
2. Make a backup & patch the iso with a NTSC2PAL patcher with Y-Fix - doesnt always work, often corrupts the iso file.
3. Buy a fully wired RGB Scart lead for PS2 from any good games store - always works, enhances picture quality on every game.
Always 1st with 100% working PS2 Online Game DNA$ IDs!!

One more solution... You can also try playing on another TV! New and bigger TV's usually supports both formats (NTSC and PAL)... Older TV's only support one format!

Hi all, I totally agree with ace1uk & chakal because previously I was experiencing the same problem. It has something to do with your TV system. Some of my games won't play in colour on my older tv but play ok with newer tvs. Cheers.

what if his TV dosent have scart?
what if its a reg 50hz PAL tv?
a 15$(euro) converter would do the trick.

thx for all your help guys =D im in import heaven!! i changed the video display to PAL and i now have colour!! thx for all ur help. without the rgb cable there top half of the screen cant be seen, but with the cable the game becomes widescreen. however the widescreen is still pushed up a little, as in the picture appears in the top half of the screen not in the middle.
i know im being picky because i have colour import gaming and i can see all the screen, but does anyone know how maybe i could fix this? np maybe its just my tv. thx again =)
