I know this post's really long, but I haven't been able to find anything like this on the forum, and I hope someone can help.

OK, here's the story; I got magic keys 2 for the slimline PS2, I got keys 1 & 2 to fit fine, my 3rd key arrived all broken, with the long bit broken off, but with some handy superglueing, I got it back on, but when I tried to install the 3rd bit, I had my console on to see when the disk spins if I install in properly, but after feeling around with the prong, the console turned off, and when I turned it back on, the TV screen's all black, even without any disc in.

I've tried it without the keys in, with a normal game in, and it's always black. I opened up the console to see if anything came loose, and I found if I touched these three little metal strips to the right of the attentuator switch you have to depress with key 3, it turns it off again.

I get the feeling I've royally messed up my PS2, all for the sake of playing FFXII. Has anyone else had this problem? I mean the bit I touched is dangerously close to the switch, and does anyone know how I can resolve it? (if I can, that is).

Any help would be really, really appreciated.

No offense but the tape and tissue mod is stupid because it voids your warrenty. All you do is take a straw cut in half from end to end, and push it down between the hinge and metal piece.

Doesnt expecting the unexpected make the unexpected expected and therefore mean youre expecting the expected which was the unexpected until you expected it?

The tape mod voids your warrenty. If you do the straw right, it works every time(at least for me).

AFTER your warrenty is up, I would suggest that because you dont have to put the straw in everytime and you can open and close the lid without it rechecking the disk. But not til after the warrenty is up.

EDIT- Unless you got it at costco like me:)

Neh... Just open up you PS2 anyway, at some point you're gonna do something that is going to void it.
Take me for example: I've recently taken apart my slimline and put bits and part of it all over the house, I forgot where they all are. Now that I'm going to buy a new laser for it soon, if I don't find I'm screwed.

Well, its the end of the world for me, I've got another one.
