Hi currently I with freeserve with a dial up modem (56k) and they disconnect me if I am idle for 20 minutes and every 2 hours whatever.

Does anyone know a fast, reliable ISP in the UK that doesn't disconnect me after 2 hours.

Thanks in advance.

You'll probably run into the same problem with every other ISP unless you sign up for broadband. Are you sure that Freeserve are cutting you off after your idle for 20mins not your connection settings?

This may stop you getting disconnected through idling:

Go Control Panel>Dial-Up Networking (or Network and Dial-Up Connections)>Right-click Freeserve Anytime>Properties>and click the Dialing tab.

You can disable 'idle disconnect' there and disable 'Disconnect when connection may not be needed'

The two hour disconnection regardless of whether the connection is idle or not is a standard thing through all ISP's that I know of. But all you need to do goto the start menu, then right click on internet explorer. Then goto internet properties, then open the properties tab, then the options tab. You'll then see the bottom box is for redialling options. Check the box to "redial if line is dropped" and set redial attempts to 99, time between attempts to 10secs and idle time before hanging up to never. Although it won't help much if your using p2p applications as you'll have to rejoin your download queue's from the bottom every time.
