Hi everybody!i have posted a message but noone had answered. Could you please help me!
thanks:
I have read the article"dvd to VCD with Smartripper,DVD2AVI and TMPGEnc".
I have perfectly followed what it said but I still can't make my cd-r play on my dvd-player.
My dvd player can play vcd's( it's a LG 4730)and I have used a normal cd-r. When I want to read it on my dvd player it says "Disc Error".
I have tried several times but i can't make it work. Can someone help me please??
THANK YOU!

thanks for answering dela!
Yes it can normally read cd-r. My player is a lg 4730 and i'm using a normal cd-r( 700 mb and 80 mn).Maybe could you tell me about a cd-r that can be read into every dvd player?
Because if i have well understanded I could be able to read a cd-r on my standalone dvd player?
Maybe is there a problem when I follow the guide "dvd to VCD with SmartRipper,DVD2AVI and TMPGEnc"?
Thanks for answering!

yes I have checked it and my dvd standalone player can normally play vcd's. No I haven't played vcd's on it. It's the fisrt time I want to try.
What do you reckon?
Do you think it's my cd-r that isn't compatible?

What burning software have you used?
If it was nero it makes a vcd 2.0 compatible vcd, maybe your player can only read vcd 1.1 you could try to make an image file in 1.1 format with vcdeasy and then burn it to see if that makes a difference, its a longshot but it maybe worth a try.
I just read that this player may need a hack to play vcd, http://www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdhacks.php?select=LG+4730 take a look here, the last post says it works for some and not for others , so be carefull!!!! it will invalidate any warranty you have. The hack for vcd playback is the second post down.

Yes, i'm using Nero for burning.
I didn't know that a dvd player needed a crack to play VCD but I'll try it in last way.
Can it be dangerous for my dvd player?
And i don't really know how to make a image file? Could someone explain?
Maybe, I'll try the guide in
http://www.dvdrhelp.com/sefy/?id=ClassicalGuide.html
Thanks for your help!

Most dvd players dont need a hack for vcd playback but occasionally manufacturers disable the vcd playback feature, if you need to use the hack make sure you write down or remember everything you do just incase u need to put it back the way it was,
As for the guide you listed, that explains how to make the vcd image with vcd easy but change the video cd type to vcd 1.1 and ignore the addition of chapters (as far as i know 1.1 vcd specs dont support them)
By the was Sefys guides are also hosted on this site try this one http://www.afterdawn.com/articles/archive/sefy/chapters2.cfm

Nah, its not even a "hack" lol it is usually just a code typed with the remote that the manufacturers use to set the region of the player, like region 3 for most of Europe, you can often find a hack for multi-region, so you can see why it is so nice :-)
