PANASONIC SW-9571 can't read or write

I hope this is the correct place to put this. I just got a PANASONIC SW-9571 and I put it in a USB 2.0 box. I ran al the drivers from CD and such. I reboot and it see the drive as a DVD-RAM. But no matter what I do I can't read a thing from the drive let alone write to it.
Any ideas?

Try posting it in hardware section and you may get a better response. Check to make sure the DMA settings are off!
