Questions about a new DVD Drive

I saw on a Xbox parts site that they were selling replacement DVD Drives, something I need. They say (On one since the other doesn't have a description part) that it's plug and play. I have a softmodded Xbox right now and the DVD Drive is about to die, when it says Plug and Play, does that mean it's got the hacked firmware in it? Or would I have to reinstall the softmod to get the drive to read burned DVDs and such? Also, when it's plug and play, what does that mean? Do I just unplug the DVD Drive from inside the Xbox, and plug this one into the cord connected to the old one, and then it works?

Or, I saw on another site that they were selling the same thing, except it said that it read all CD/DVD media, so does that mean it'd read the Burnt DVDs right out of the box?

I appreciate the help...again. You guys seem to be great at helping n00bs like me.

when it says plug and play all you have to do is take out the old and put in the new one. but you have to be careful, some people sell pc dvd rom and sell as xbox, make sure it is a "replacement drive" but if it says plug and play you should be good, but yes, no special instruction out with the old and in with the new, simple as that

Open the drive, underneath the bezel you can see two little tabs, they hold the face on! Pulling from underneath, pull outwards and down and it should pop out. then just lift the bezel up and away!
