Hello all -

I am trying to help my son who has a bunch of older 8MB memory cards that (i believe) worked on his cousin's old PS2. I have the 'new' slim version. This memory requires that you boot a memory manager from the cd before using. I have two different brands, with different software. I have multiple copies of the disc...

Basically nothing works. either the disc does not even boot (it says to install a ps or ps2 disc) or the other brand cd WILL boot up, then it asks me to flip it over to continue, when i do nothing happens...

Is there anyway to get these older ps2 chips to work with the newer slim-ps2?

If you don´t have a modchip installed on pstwo, you´ll not be able to boot the copies.
The easiest way to do it is install a modchip like Matrix green dot or DMS. If you have this, you don´t need the manager discs because the chip´s software allow the memory cards to work without it, as it were Sony.
There are other ways but in my oppinion this is the better one.
For a child, you need this one, or else, you´ll have him calling you everytime to do the swapping methods.(I presume he is a young child)
