if you are useing a DMS4 chip and it's locking up on the golden 3 at the very start of the game just past the splash screen, go into your settings and turn off 'PS2 Video Mode Fix' for playing off the HDD set mode 3.

So then is there a problem with backing up COD3? I open DVD Decrypter and insert the disc (PS2) and it just makes a weird short loading sound every 5 seconds while my computer kinda freezes, then it says device not ready. Alcohol 120 won't load it up either... Any ideas?

i backed it up with no problems, it plays fine and doesn't hang at the auto save (even with memory card installed) or anywhere, I've played it both from disk and the harddrive completely to make sure and it works perfectly with a DMS4 Pro SE chip V7 console. others with different setups can't get the auto save to stop freezing up even with the memory card removed and some have problems with different versions of SM while others do not.

everyone I've installed a DMS4 chip for that have tried the game reported full functionality.

the DMS4 plays this game perfectly with a 1-1 copy with the correct DNAS patched to the disc, the autosave works perfectly and online plays perfectly. i can even access multiplayer from the HD and it reboots the network adapter and goes online it just fails DNAS checks. there is no rebuilding for online use, you only rebuild games over a particular size for the use of SM because SM doesnt support disc sized over 4.3 gig.

What Do I Do?
Get a Modchip. the time wasted on swapping, failed attempts at rebuilding and burning will cost more in the long run then a top quality chip even if you have to pay a modder to install it.

I've had at least a few hundred customers who went the SwapMagic route or Memory Card Exploit and when they finely bit the bullet and got me to install a DMS4 chip they were kickin themselves in the butt for not doing it to start with.

life is so much simpler with a quality chip in your console.

if your chip supports carrier signal forcing then turn it off and try it.

you can try v0.8 with all the patches and it might help if you arent allready running it via the exploit.
